Trailhead: Aspen Glen Picnic Area here
Pine Knot Trail is a nice, relaxing hike near Big Bear Lake. The trailhead is close to town and it makes for a great morning activity before it gets too hot in the summer! We spent most of our Labor Day Weekend boating and wakeboarding, but I always try to squeeze in a hike on all of my trips. (Ps check out my friends at My Wild Earth on how hiking changes your brain & body)
The trailhead starts at the Aspen Glen Picnic area and quickly climbs up through switchbacks. The trail is a bit dusty, and there is some shade in the beginning. Soon you’ll be able to see up above Big Bear Lake. Watch out for bikes and maybe horses during your hike.
When you hit the big intersection about 2 miles in, you’ll want to continue straight to Pine Knot Trail. Look for signs for Grand View Point. It’s a nice lookout to the mountains ahead and a good spot for a snack before you turn around!
