Trailhead: Angel’s Rest Trailhead about 30 minutes from Portland
Route: There and back along Angel’s Rest Trail
Angel’s Rest is a great “bang for your buck” hike near Portland. It’s accessible and less crowded than the popular Multnomah Falls hike. At 1PM on a Saturday, we were able to find parking relatively easy. The hike is a gradual ascent through switchbacks and a mix of shaded and unshaded areas. The trail was a bit wet, but we were fine with normal sneakers.
There is a lookout to Coopey Falls less than a mile into the hike. Once you reach the top, you’re awarded with a great view of Columbia River Gorge. We stayed here for a little more than half an hour to snack, relax, and enjoy the view. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a relaxing hike in the middle of the day!
